The STEM Community Engagement process develops a long-range plan to improve STEM education by bringing together a diverse group of community members to plan, design, and create innovative changes in how we teach and learn. National research, education best practices, engineering design processes, and other community engagement protocols have informed the development of the phases, activities and milestones of the process.

3/13/15 Science Communication Workshop for faculty, post-docs, and grad students

STEM CORE and the Science Literacy Program are partnering to offer a free, two-day workshop on Communicating Science facilitated by faculty from the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University. To apply for the May 14-15 workshop, please visit the Science Literacy Website

The workshop will provide attendees with training and communication tools to engage public audiences. In addition to media training, the sessions will include improvisation instruction intended to provide scientists with the skills to talk  freely, directly, and spontaneously about their work. An additional focus of the workshop is on distilling science messages.

The AVID coordinator at the Arts and Technology Academy is looking for science students at UO to speak to their AVID electives about why they pursued a degree in science. AVID is a program at ATA that focuses on college and career readiness. If you are interested in doing this please contact (No payment available for your time, however there will be cookies and the students will make you cards)
